What is mineral zinc sunscreen?

Mineral zinc sunscreen uses zinc oxide — a naturally occurring mineral — to physically block UV rays by sitting on top of your skin and reflecting sunlight away. This is different from chemical sunscreens, which absorb UV radiation using synthetic chemical filters like oxybenzone and octinoxate. Zinc oxide is the only UV filter recognised by the US FDA as both safe and effective for broad-spectrum sun protection.

What percentage of zinc oxide is in ThermaSun products?

Our standard range (Face & Body, Kids Zinc, Sport Pro, Gentle Apricot, and Mozzie Barrier) contains 25% non-nano zinc oxide. Our Work-Shield Pro heavy-duty formula contains 40% non-nano zinc oxide for maximum protection in demanding conditions.
